THE BROODMARES
A L'ELEVAGE & EN PARTENARIAT
HOW ARE OUR MARES CHOSEN?
We attach particular importance to the origins and model of our broodmares. All mares are not made to be mothers, ie to bequeath qualities to their foals. No stallion can indeed magically erase the faults of the mares with which they are crossed. It is therefore essential, if one seeks to produce quality foals, to select mares with good conformation and good gaits. Not to mention practicality!
Our mares come from the best lines of German dressage ponies (Deutsches Reitpony), known for their performance and the quality of their offspring. In addition, the mind is also scrutinized, so as to obtain foals that are good in their bodies but also good in their heads!
WHAT FOOD?
Particular attention is paid to the diet of our proteges. On the program all year round, continued or not: unlimited hay. This is the basis. When they are full and during the last trimester of gestation, they are supplemented in individual paddocks, which allows us to monitor the needs of each one as closely as possible. Then after the foaling, a vermifuge is administered, which makes it possible to cover both the mother and the foal, which is particularly sensitive when it is a newborn.
During the lactation period, most needs are covered by spring grass. We come to complete during the peak of lactation, between the 2nd and the 4th of the foal.
The complementary feeds administered are free of GMOs and molasses, and are specifically developed to cover the needs of pregnant mares, mares in foal and their foal.
